Our Story
Fireborn Finishes was born from an unexpected change in direction.
I was an aspiring woodworker working toward starting my own woodworking business when a car accident changed the trajectory of my life. The accident left me with a broken collarbone and sternum. Suddenly, I couldn’t lift slabs of wood into the shop, and even today I still can’t pick up my son.
For a time, my woodworking dreams had to take a back seat.
But I wasn’t ready to walk away from woodworking altogether.
As I recovered, I began experimenting with oils and waxes, searching for a finish that would bring out the natural beauty hidden within wood. What started as a way to stay connected to the craft quickly became an obsession.
After countless experiments, I discovered a unique mineral component that changed everything.
The moment I incorporated it into my formula, I knew I had something special.
The finish enriched color, deepened contrast, and revealed details within the grain that seemed to have been hidden beneath the surface all along. Wood didn’t just look finished—it looked alive.
What began as a setback became an opportunity.
